Healing properties of amber

Healing properties of amber

Amber has many wonderful qualities for healing the physical and emotional body. For centuries, this precious stone has been valued not only for its decorative character but also for the ability to bring good health.

Studies have shown that amber contains many valuable microelements: silicon, magnesium, iron, calcium, potassium, as well as organic compounds combined with iodine, volatile substances, and resin acids. It has also been discovered that succinic acid found in the resin acts as a biostimulator – it stimulates the nervous system, regulates kidneys and intestines, and is an anti-inflammatory and antitoxic agent. Ointments and creams for rheumatic and asthmatic problems, skin irritations and diseases of the bronchi, throat, and thyroid are made on the basis of this ingredient. Additionally, acid and oil obtained from amber destroy free radicals and bacteria, have disinfectant properties, as well as soothe the effects of burns and insect bites.

Some also claim that wearing amber necklaces or bracelets by babies helps them ease the pain of teething. Natural medicine specialists believe that each of us is surrounded by an electromagnetic field. As a result of stress or illness, an excess of positive charges appears in it. Meanwhile, our body functions properly when there is a balance between positive and negative charges. It is thanks to amber, which produces friendly negative charges, that we can recover our healthy balance.

The properties of amber are also used by modern beauty products. Cosmetics containing amber are dedicated especially for tired skin. They improve the skin’s hydration and lubrication, increase its firmness and elasticity, and visibly reduce skin roughness and wrinkle depth.

What is more, lithotherapy specialists, who use gemstones in their treatment, emphasize that amber has a positive influence on our psyche – it calms us down and enhances creativity.

As we can see, amber may serve not only as a marvellous piece of jewellery, but it is beneficial for our health and personal wellbeing.
